Have you heard the expression “Secret Christians”? They are those Christians who, out of fear of losing their popularity or social privileges, hide the fact that they are followers of Jesus Christ.
Towards the end of Jesus’ ministry, many people had hardened their hearts so as not to believe in Him.
Yet, even among the rulers, many believed in Him; but because of the religious leaders, they did not confess it, for fear of being expelled from the synagogue. For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
Perhaps this final phrase explains such behavior. To love the praise of men is to live seeking the approval and favor of others.
Whereas, to love the praise of God is to please Him in everything, even if it sometimes goes against the expectations of many, being assured that God’s will is always good, pleasing, and perfect.
A “Secret Christian” may save themselves alone, though it is unlikely they will receive a reward in heaven. Whereas, a “Public and Known Christian” may not be the most popular in the group; but they will arrive in God’s presence bringing many who have accepted the Savior.
“Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.” (Psalm 126:5-6)

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved human praise more than praise from God.”
— John 12:42-43
