Jesus went to Peter’s house, where he found his mother-in-law very sick, with a high fever. “Please, heal her,” they all begged.
Standing by her bed, Jesus rebuked the fever, and the fever left the woman. She immediately got up and prepared a meal for them.
The Lord had arrived just in time to address the family crisis. What’s amazing is that Jesus goes and rebukes the illness, causing it to leave the woman’s body. People began to recognize the authority He had even in the midst of crisis.
Etymologically, a crisis is a profound change with significant consequences, initially a bad or difficult situation.
Emotionally, a crisis is a time of weariness, high stress, and deep sadness.
But spiritually, a crisis is an opportunity to draw closer to God, increase our faith, and witness with expectation the powerful work of the Lord.
So it happened with Peter’s mother-in-law. The completely healed woman got up and began to serve the Master with gratitude.
We too can look back and remember how many crises the Lord has delivered us from. Why not rise up and serve Him likewise with gratitude?

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.”
— Luke 4:38-39
