Many people think that praying is merely a religious act, but it’s much more than that. In reality, praying is conversing with God, opening our hearts completely to Him, knowing that no one can understand us as much as the One who created us.
When we talk about conversing with God, we speak of an extremely private act, but also highly interactive. We communicate with Him through prayer, and He responds to us through His Word.
Therefore, there’s no reason to boast about the act of praying itself, much less about the amount of time we spend alone with God, because it all remains in the realm of the intimate and natural.
Jesus invites us to enjoy constant time with God, stating: “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you openly.”
Being in the presence of God regularly refines character, provides peace, improves health, gives clarity to make wise decisions, and transports us from cold orphanhood to the sweet and secure arms of a loving Father.
