Jesus entered Jericho, and it happened that a man named Zacchaeus, chief among the tax collectors, sought to see him. This man was of short stature, and because of the crowd he could not see anything. Therefore, he climbed a tree to wait for the Savior to pass by.
When Jesus came to that place, looking up, he saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”
Who told Jesus the name of this prominent figure? And how did he know that this man wanted to see him?
It is undeniable that the author of our lives knows our name, our history, our triumphs, and defeats; and he is always attentive to our need.
Zacchaeus was a successful man, his economic life was resolved, and he enjoyed great importance in his circle. But Jesus could see beyond, and saw in Zacchaeus a child climbing a tree, seeking to know God.
We can never impress the Lord with our image of security and confidence. Like Zacchaeus, we need to climb the tree of humiliation, and from there, draw the Lord’s attention so that he may extend his arms of mercy to us.
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10).

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.”
— Luke 19:5-6
