To follow Jesus has its demands, but it also comes with many benefits.

On one occasion, his disciple Peter asked him, “See, we have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?”

To this, Jesus replied, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

Obviously, this was a promise specifically for his twelve apostles. But what did he say about all his other followers, including those of today?

Jesus added, “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.”

These are not just promises for the time when we are in his presence; they are also a display of his abundant generosity and provision during our journey on earth.

Let’s press on; every effort is worthwhile, and the Lord takes care of the supplies. The kingdom of God must reach every creature before the end.
