Then Jesus said, “What is the kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it? It is like a mustard seed that a man planted in a garden; it grows and becomes a tree, and the birds make nests in its branches.”
The mustard seed measures between 0.039 and 0.078 inches in diameter and can grow into a tree up to thirteen feet tall. It grows robust and resilient, adapting to drought, heat, and frost.
Hence, the comparison Jesus makes about the kingdom of God and the mustard seed is relevant. The kingdom of heaven came through Jesus Christ and started as a small work through his disciples. Today, it has become an immense tree across nations.
Perhaps it’s your turn to start a small work in your home or community. Maybe your beginnings could be like a mustard seed, but rest assured that if you are sowing with Jesus, it will be God who gives growth, and over time, you will see an immense tree.
The seed of the gospel grows robust and resilient; nothing can stop it. It adapts to the most hostile climates of opposition, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
Sow the Word of God, flood barren grounds with the water of life. In time, you will see flourishing trees providing shade and refuge for many generations.
