A few hours before he was arrested and taken to the cross, Jesus prayed for his disciples.
He addressed God with these words: “I do not ask you to take them out of the world, but to keep them from evil. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them.”
For the Lord, His disciples then—and His disciples now—are meant to be embedded in society. He never commanded us to be isolated, nor to be indifferent to what happens in our communities.
A disciple of Jesus should be among people, be responsible in their study circles, work with honesty, and stay informed about what is happening in their country and around the world.
Only then can we truly relate to others, celebrate their successes, help them in their uncertainties, and stand by them in times of sorrow.
Few people today listen to professional preachers who are repetitive and detached from daily life. Instead, people are more inclined to lend their ears to Christian friends who, though different, are always present when they are most needed.
Jesus said: “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.”
“As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.”
