Jesus looked at the crowd and said, “On the day of judgment, the Queen of Sheba will rise up against this generation and condemn it, for she came from a distant land to hear the wisdom of Solomon. Now, someone greater than Solomon is here, but you refuse to listen.”
The Queen of Sheba ruled what is now known as Ethiopia, in the far eastern part of Africa. She traveled about 1,550 miles to hear the wisdom of King Solomon.
Solomon was the third monarch of Israel and had been blessed by God with such wisdom that he could rule, write scientific treatises, and solve impossible situations among his people.
After visiting him, the Queen of Sheba exclaimed, “The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true. But I did not believe these things until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half was told me; in wisdom and wealth, you have far exceeded the report I heard” (1 Kings 10:6-7).
Despite being highly admired, Solomon was only a recipient of God’s wisdom, whereas Jesus is the incarnate Word of God. The difference is immense, and it prompts the question: Would you travel the same distance to hear the Savior? Would you invest time and effort to listen to Him? He is now just a page away in the Holy Scriptures.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom; and now something greater than Solomon is here.”
— Luke 11:31
