When Jesus arrived in Jerusalem, He was warned to leave because Herod, the governor, wanted to kill Him.
The Lord knew He had little time left and decided to stay to free the captives and heal the sick, thus completing His work.
Jesus loved His people deeply, just as He loves all of humanity. His love is kind, but it also endures suffering.
In the heart of the city, He spoke these words: “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you!
How many times I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.”
In this way, Jesus loved and warned a people that rejected Him.
The truth is that “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But to all who did receive Him, to those who believe in His name, He gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:11-12).
The Lord did not hesitate to risk His own life to reach the last of His own. His love is infinite and unconditional: We can never make Him love us less, and we can never make Him love us more. All that is left for us is to surrender and let ourselves be reached.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
