The devil took Jesus to a high place and displayed before Him all the kingdoms of the world in an instant. There he said to Him: “I will give you the glory of these kingdoms and authority over them, for they are mine to give to whomever I wish. I will give you all of this if you worship me.”
Jesus replied: “The Scriptures say: Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.”
In this temptation, we can observe two characteristics of Satan: He is the prince of this world, the one who now holds ideological and ethical control over humanity.
The other characteristic is that Satan seeks the worship of people, as he considers himself superior to God. He had the audacity to ask for worship from Jesus Himself.
The Lord did not fall into this temptation and teaches us to resist the ideology of the prince of this world, in order to worship and serve our Creator with devotion.
We are sent out like sheep among wolves. Let us go carefully, always alert to the deceptions of the system, carrying the Word strengthened in God, knowing that the gates of Hades will not prevail against the Church of Jesus Christ.
