Jesus constantly warned his disciples: “You must also stay alert, for you do not know when the master of the house will return.
Let him not find you asleep when he arrives unexpectedly. What I say to you, I say to everyone: Stay awake, waiting for him.”
The Lord gives us additional details about His Second Coming. He presents Himself as the master of the house, which implies that we are the servants of His household.
Our lives, as we wait for Him, should be like obedient servants, following His will, not as masters and lords of our own existence.
To pretend that we are the owners of our lives, ignoring that Christ has bought us at the price of His precious blood, is to live asleep, and surely we will be ashamed at His Second Coming.
Jesus’ exhortation is to remain awake, living soberly, submitted to His Word, and waiting for Him.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: “Watch!”
