As the sacrifice of the cross reached its climax, Jesus let out another loud cry and took His last breath. The Roman officer who stood in front of Him, seeing how He had died, exclaimed: “Truly, this man was the Son of God.”
What strange communication took place between the crucified Christ and this Roman officer? That military authority witnessed the legal injustice and the merciless torture inflicted by the soldiers.
He had to follow closely the Lamb of God, who did not open His mouth to defend Himself, nor did He accuse His executioners.
This Roman officer did not understand the depths of the Scriptures, but he saw something that others did not: He had a revelation of the glory of Christ as the true Son of God.
No one told him, no one explained it to him; but God Himself showed him that he was standing before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
It is God who reveals Himself to man; it is Christ who manifests His marvelous light in a surprising way. It is up to us to faithfully share the good news of salvation.
Let us never dismiss anyone: Even a distinguished Roman officer, who was in charge of the execution of the Savior, recognized that Jesus was the Son of God.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.
The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died, he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!”
— Mark 15:37-39
