A Roman army officer had a servant who was very ill, so he sent for Jesus to come to his house.
The Savior agreed, and as they were nearing the officer’s home, the officer sent another messenger to say, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; therefore, I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.”
Two aspects stand out about this Roman officer: he considered himself unworthy to be in Jesus’ presence, recognizing the majesty of the Savior by calling Him Lord.
Another notable element was his undeniable confidence in the word of Jesus and His authority over all sickness.
The Lord was amazed by this man, praised his faith, and immediately healed his servant.
The high rank of this Roman officer did not prevent him from humbling himself before the Savior. He acknowledged that all his military and political power was insufficient to restore his servant’s life. Therefore, he stepped aside and allowed the power of God to enter his home.
Humiliation and recognition of the Lordship of Christ: The outcome was happy for this man. If we were to take the same steps, we would completely change the course of our lives.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“So Jesus went with them. He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.”
— Luke 7:6-7
