We are living in dangerous times. Never before have we seen so much insecurity in the streets. Even within families, there is betrayal, abuse, and lack of love.
Jesus referred to these times, saying: “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.”
Evil, in all its forms, has spread across the world. At first, it causes dismay, but then, as it happens repeatedly, it begins to settle into humanity. Soon, it becomes normal and may even gain legal support.
It is then that it begins to erode fundamental values, including love.
The world is transforming into an ice floe; families are divided, giving way to individualism. Self-centered self-fulfillment creates lone wolves, hungry for success, willing to step over even their loved ones to achieve their goals.
It is in these dark times that Jesus has entrusted us with keeping the flame of His love burning. The church is the last bastion from which God’s love for humanity is proclaimed. But one day we will leave, and destruction will be inevitable.
“For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way” (2 Thessalonians 2:7).
