And near the end of His prayer model, Jesus added: “And forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.”
A very important part of restoring our communion with God is to confess our sins. To sin is to miss the mark, to walk against the Lord’s will, and to face the consequences of this decision.
We often forget this final part, and when the consequences occur, we conclude that God is being unfair to us.
But how does the Father feel when we sin? To understand this, we need to refer to the second part of the phrase Jesus taught: “As we forgive those who sin against us.”
How do you feel when someone hurts and disappoints you? Is it much more painful when it’s someone close to you? Have you ever cried for days and felt a lingering anguish from a deep disappointment?
Now you can understand what God feels when we let Him down. Let us promptly go to Him to ask for forgiveness, and let us take the example of His love to also forgive others.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.”
— Luke 11:4
