It was two days before Passover. The chief priests and the teachers of the religious law were still looking for an opportunity to secretly capture Jesus and kill Him.
But they said, “Not during the Passover celebration, or the people may riot.”
What do you think of this double standard? “We must kill the Son of God, but at the same time, we must respect God’s festival.” How incongruous and irrational!
This is the height of inconsistency, clearly revealing the divided heart of man.
Religious people are characterized by meticulously observing the festivals dedicated to God, without this affecting the attitude of their hearts. This is why they had no problem planning to kill someone, in this case, Jesus.
It is also very easy for them to disregard God’s opinion, prioritizing political calculations, their own convenience, and the reactions of others in their favor.
When we seek to please God, we automatically distance ourselves from religious double standards. We no longer worry about maintaining appearances because our Heavenly Father begins to work within our hearts.
We lose all interest in maintaining a position, status, or selfish power when we understand that it is more important to please God than to please men.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“Now the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread were only two days away, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were scheming to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him. “But not during the festival,” they said, “or the people may riot.”
