Jesus said to those who had believed in Him: “If you hold to my teachings, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Here, the Lord outlines the progressive growth of every follower of His.
First, there are those who believe in Him. These are the ones who, upon hearing His Word, decide to follow Him, making a significant step in their lives.
Next, there are those who remain faithful to the teachings of Jesus. They are the ones who, having believed in Him, choose to delve deeper into His words and set aside special time to learn more about the Savior.
Following this is the stage of becoming a disciple. This is the moment when we resolve to follow the Lord unconditionally and begin to apply everything we have learned with the utmost seriousness.
Along the way, we come to know the fullness of Christ’s truth, and this truth makes us completely free and whole in Him. During this period, we offer ourselves to God as a living, holy, and pleasing sacrifice.
Blessed are those who have believed in Jesus, who are faithful to His teachings, who are teachable to be His disciples, and who are declared free by knowing the whole truth.
