Jesus had to travel a long way to reach the Jordan River and be baptized.
There, John the Baptist was present. Crowds came from many places to be baptized, confessing their sins.
In the midst of the crowd, Jesus suddenly appeared. John the Baptist didn’t know if he should baptize Jesus or if the Lord should baptize him.
Jesus said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.”
With this, the Savior wanted to show his obedience to God’s will and set an example for his future followers.
Finally, Jesus entered the waters of the Jordan River, and when he came out, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.
And a voice came from the heavens, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
A life of obedience and God’s response, showing His approval. Why not live the same way, enjoying the presence and friendship of the Almighty God?
When we live in obedience to the Creator, we have open heavens, we are in harmony with the Holy Spirit, and we enjoy the authority and pleasure of the Most High.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
— Matthew 3:16-17
