When Jesus spoke of the heart, he was not referring to the hollow, pyramidal muscle that pumps blood throughout the body.
He was referring to the heart as the seat of attitudes, emotions, and intelligence.
For the Lord, what was in a man’s heart completely influenced his way of thinking and acting.
For this reason, he warned: “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart; for the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”
Therefore, it is crucial to guard what enters our hearts, because this will strongly influence our way of thinking, speaking, and acting.
Let us be selective in what we consume with our eyes and ears, as this directs what we want to become.
And remember: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (Proverbs 4:23).
