Jesus went through all the towns and villages, and when he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them; because they were helpless and scattered like sheep without a shepherd.
The Lord was intimately acquainted with the reality of city dwellers as well as the mindset of those living in rural areas.
Although their goals and interests differed, their internal needs coincided surprisingly: Both were helpless and scattered.
Being helpless does not always mean having been abandoned. It can become a personal decision to renounce God’s help and protection. Taking control of our lives while ignoring the Creator’s will soon leads us to a desolate scenario.
Meanwhile, being scattered is that strange feeling of loneliness, even in the midst of many people. The soul sadly claims that something is missing in life. It is the feeling of the lost sheep that desperately longs to be rescued by its Shepherd.
God has designed us to live eternally with Him. When we distort this design, the alarm will always go off, the deep feeling of being helpless and scattered.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”
— Matthew 9:35-36
