One of the primary needs of every human being is to love and feel loved. Satisfying hunger, having a roof over our heads, and maintaining health can give us a certain temporary stability. But what happens if we have all of that and are not enveloped in love?
The feeling of emptiness in the heart and not belonging is one of the characteristic ailments of modern society. Literally, the world is dying for lack of love.
Jesus once said: “A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
God perfectly knows what we need. We have been designed out of love; we have been created to love and be loved. That is why we wither in toxic environments; that is why we become physically and spiritually ill when we are marginalized, rejected, and ignored.
For Jesus, being surrounded by the bond of love is crucial in the formation of new men and women, healthy families, and healing communities.
The way of loving that He proposes is very challenging but highly effective: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
God’s love does not select who deserves and who does not; it is an inexhaustible and unstoppable torrent; it is a miraculous river that transforms dark scenarios into valleys full of life. Whoever has drunk from those waters knows how urgent they are for humanity.
