After the death of Jesus, on Sunday morning, Mary Magdalene and another companion went to visit the tomb.
Suddenly, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, rolled the stone aside, and sat on it.
Then the angel spoke to the women: “Do not be afraid, I know you seek Jesus, the one who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen just as he said would happen.”
The resurrection of Jesus is a historical fact confirmed by more than 500 people who saw him with their own eyes for 40 days before his ascension. Jesus himself showed the wounds in his hands and side.
The fact was so compelling and categorical that his own disciples were willing to give their lives to carry forward Jesus’ message.
“For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive” (1 Corinthians 15:21-22).

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”
— Matthew 28:5-6
