And they brought Jesus to a place called Golgotha. They offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he refused it. Then the soldiers nailed him to the cross. It was nine o’clock in the morning.
Jesus had made the firm decision to face the torture and death of the cross. A custom at the time was to give certain hallucinogenic brews to the condemned, in order to mitigate their pain in the face of a cruel agony.
That’s why Jesus was offered wine mixed with myrrh, whose effect was like a drug that would minimally reduce his suffering.
The Savior refused to receive this palliative and faced the immense pain of the cross in an agony that tore his body from nine in the morning until three in the afternoon.
It was necessary for the Lamb of God to undo the effect of sin, free from all contamination, so that his shed blood could cleanse us from all evil.
Up to that point, and keeping the smallest detail of the Scriptures, the Lord loved us.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get.
It was nine in the morning when they crucified him.”
— Mark 15:22-25
