Jesus came to a place called Gethsemane and said to his disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
Taking three of them, he began to be sorrowful and troubled, saying, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death.”
Here we find Jesus distressed on the Mount of Gethsemane. The word “Gethsemane” means “Oil Press,” reminding us of the place where olives were crushed to release their precious oil.
Olive oil was used as lamp fuel, medicine, soap, for anointing kings and priests, and as a food ingredient.
On the Mount of Gethsemane, Jesus affirmed his decision to be crushed like an olive on the cross of Calvary.
Today, his precious oil, the Holy Spirit, fills our lamps, heals our ailments, cleanses our lives, anoints us for service, and nourishes us with His Word.
Let us recognize these benefits and embrace them with gratitude. Let us live faithful lives to Him who gave everything on the cross, having first counted the cost on the Mount of Gethsemane.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
