There is a name that no one would give to their newborn son: “Judas.” The name “Judas” is associated with betrayal and greed.
He was chosen among twelve disciples to be by Jesus’ side. In a short time, Judas became the administrator of the resources. He ate from the same plate as the Master; his closeness was evident, and Jesus called him “his friend.”
But this character had other plans: He envisioned the Savior as the future king of the Jews and perhaps aspired to hold an important position.
When he concluded that this was not going to happen, he became bitter and handed over his Master in exchange for 30 pieces of silver, and in an unexpected ending, he hanged himself.
Who is Jesus to you? Just someone who can fulfill all your personal projects? To Judas, that was all he represented: A means to achieve his own purposes.
But Jesus is more than that. He has chosen us to be by his side and to be his friends. The Savior has precious plans for us, plans for well-being and not for calamity, to give us a future and a hope.
Let’s not trade that for “30 pieces of silver,” as Judas did.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders. “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.”
“What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your responsibility.”
So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.”
— Matthew 27:3-5
