According to Jesus’ parable, the “prodigal son” asked his father for his inheritance in advance, left home, lived recklessly, and ended up completely poor.
When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, “At home, even the hired workers have food to spare, and here I am, starving to death.
I will go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Please hire me as a laborer.”
The young man in our story experienced a rapid downfall, hitting rock bottom before he could reflect.
Sometimes, God allows these voids and long pauses of sadness so that we can evaluate why we have reached such a dramatic situation.
Eventually, he came to his senses; he had to acknowledge that he lived out of his mind, driven crazy by money, pleasures, and recklessness.
He decided to return to his father’s house, admitting that he had not only broken his family’s heart but had also sinned against God with his rebellious actions.
He also thought he had lost his status as a son, only to be surprised when his father ran to meet him and embraced him.
This is an excellent depiction of the fatherhood, wisdom, and love that God has for His children when they return to Him.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“When he came to his senses, he said, “How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.”
