Jesus told a story: “A man had two sons. The younger one said to his father, “I want my share of the inheritance now, before you die.” So the father agreed to divide his wealth between the two sons.
A few days later, the younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land, where he wasted all his money on wild living.
About the time his money ran out, a great famine swept over the land, and he began to starve.”
Although this is just the beginning of a story, it clearly illustrates some mistakes in resource management, contrasted with the will of God.
Firstly, it is not the elder son who asks for the advance inheritance, but the younger one, thus breaking the established order. With such a beginning, everything was sure to end badly.
Secondly, the younger son receives an unusual amount of money and moves to a distant land. In other words, he does not allow his father to teach him how to manage resources properly.
Then, he squanders all his money on wild living and ends up starving.
When God allows us to receive large amounts of money, it is not for us to lose control. The first thing we must do is thank God, ask for wisdom, allow ourselves to be taught, take a pause to plan, save, and meet our needs with sobriety.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“The younger one said to his father, “Father, give me my share of the estate.” So he divided his property between them.
“Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living.”
— Luke 15:12-13
