Jesus was preaching when his mother and his brothers came to him. But they couldn’t reach him because of the crowd.
Jesus had been traveling through villages and cities, and his family missed him. That’s why they came to see him. And it was told to him, saying: “Your mother and your brothers are outside and want to see you.”
He then responded, saying: “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the Word of God and do it.”
Jesus was by no means neglecting his family. On the contrary, he had supported them up until the age of 30 with his carpentry work.
Even while being crucified and in agony, he asked his beloved disciple to take care of his mother.
What Jesus was emphasizing is that the same love and care he had for his family, he extended and continues to extend to those who hear the Word of God and do it.
“For Jesus, who sanctifies and those who are sanctified by him, are all from God; therefore, he is not ashamed to call them brothers” (Hebrews 2:11).
Not only are we now part of God’s family, but we also have the best older brother one could have: One who protects, accompanies, advises, and encourages us on the journey of life.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”
He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”
