On the Sabbath, Jesus entered the synagogue of Nazareth. There He read: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind; to set at liberty those who are oppressed; and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
This prophecy was fulfilled before everyone. Jesus had come to this world to bring the good news of salvation: “So that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
He also came to heal the internal wounds of all those who had been hurt in their emotions, whom He called “the brokenhearted.”
He came furthermore to announce freedom for those who were imprisoned by their own guilt and harmful habits, those captives who lived without hope.
He did not forget the blind, to whom He granted the miracle of sight. The physically blind and the spiritually blind received the miracle of believing in Him.
From that moment on, “the year of the Lord’s favor” began and continues to this day. Jesus continues to heal hearts, liberate the oppressed, restore sight to the blind, and give eternal life to all who take refuge in Him.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
— Luke 4:18-19
