Why do some people hear the Word of God and not understand it or be completely indifferent to it?
Jesus, addressing this issue, said: “When you hear what I say, you will not understand. When you see what I do, you will not comprehend. For the heart of this people is hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes, so they cannot turn to me to be healed.”
The Lord details that those people in this situation live in a dangerous cycle of gradual destruction. They do not know it, nor feel the need to be healed.
Only a miracle can save them, only a supernatural act of God can remove the blindfolds and break every bond of wickedness.
We can only speak to their ears. The only one who can speak to the heart is the Lord. That is why we must partner with God in prayer every time we approach a person hardened by life.
The miraculous act of salvation is solely the Creator’s prerogative. He said: “I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh, so that they may follow my decrees and be my people, and I will be their God” (Ezekiel 11:19-20).

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: “You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.”
— Matthew 13:14-15
