One of the most enigmatic figures in history is Judas Iscariot, the man who had it all. His Master was none other than Jesus of Nazareth.
Chosen as one of the twelve apostles, he was sent to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick in the villages.
He was the diligent steward of resources on Jesus’ journeys and participated in the most intimate meetings with the Master.
Judas Iscariot had all the elements to succeed in this life, but surprisingly ended up destroying himself.
When Judas committed betrayal and realized that they had condemned Jesus to death, he was filled with remorse. So he returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders.
“I have sinned,” he declared, “because I have betrayed an innocent man.”
“What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your problem.”
So Judas threw the silver coins into the temple, went out, and hanged himself.
Never has anyone been so close to Jesus and yet so far away. May it serve as a warning to us.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders. “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.”
“What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your responsibility.”
So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.”
— Matthew 27:3-5
